Scored this today...
FTF deal.
Came w/ nite sites and a 3.5lb trigger. Gen 4. I like the texture.

I used to get all giddy buying guns... I've lost it. :(

I think it's gonna take something over .50 cal to fill the void from now on *sigh*

yep.

Think I'm going to put on an extended slide stop and mag release.

Deck this one out for high speed low drag.

I'd be more excited if I had time to.

I'm taking suggestions/ links on where to get extended controls for this thing.

I'm not terribly familiar w/ aftermarket part makers for Glock.

Neat little deal on mags here..

I'm a bit confused-

Says:Cut For Ambidextrous Mag Catch for SF Model Only!

mines not a SF.

I thought the mags were uniform?

Are you sure it's a Gen 4 and not a Gen 3 RTF? Gen 4 has the changeable backstraps and an ambidexterous mag release. I also think the Gen 4 has straight serrations on the slide. The mags for Gen 4 are different than previous mags to support the ambi release.

Hey the slide grooving is different, that means it's a G4 right? Someone showed a glock that had almost a sandpaper texture on the rear of the slide, I guess that was an aftermarket job.

Nice gun JJ.

G17SF may be something in the works. The extra cut should not matter. Use it and abuse it.

CDNN is in Texas, they'll hit you with tax and RAPE you on shipping. I'm not saying I don't do business with them, but always get a total price shipped before buying anything.

I usually save up and get one big order every year or so.

Looks like you're right.

I didn't realize that they were making Gen 3 glocks in RTF-

Quote:

Third generation models
In the late 1990s, the frame was further modified with an accessory rail (called the "Universal Glock rail") to allow the mounting of laser sights, tactical lights, and other accessories. Thumb rests on both sides of the frame and finger grooves on the front strap were also added. Glock pistols with these upgrades are informally referred to as "third generation" models.
The design of the extractor has also been changed twice, and the locking block was enlarged, along with the addition of an extra cross pin to aid the distribution of forces exerted by the locking lock. This cross pin is known as the locking block pin and located above the trigger pin.[13]
The polymer frames of third generation models can be black or olive drab. Besides that, non-firing dummy pistols ("R" models) have a bright red frame and Simunition-adapted practice pistols ("T" models)—a bright blue frame for easy identification.[14]
In 2009 the Glock 22 RTF2 (Rough Texture Frame 2) (chambered in .40 S&W) was introduced. This pistol featured a new checkering texture around the grip and new scalloped (fish gill shaped) serrations at the rear of the sides of the slide.[15][16]

Quote:

At the 2010 SHOT Show trade show Glock presented the "fourth generation" model. The changes appear mainly centered around ergonomics. Glock Gen4 17 (9x19mm Parabellum) and Gen4 22 (.40 S&W) full-size pistols were displayed with a modified rough texture frame, checkering around the grip and interchangeable backstraps of different sizes. The basic grip size of the generation 4 pistols is smaller compared to the previous Glock models. For mounting an "M" (medium) or "L" (large) backstrap, a punch is provided to remove the basic trigger housing pin and replace it for a longer cross pin needed to attach the "M" or "L" straps. The "M" backstrap yields a grip of similar size compared to the previous generation pistols. The magazine release catches are also significantly enlarged and reversible for left-handed use. To utilize the swappable magazine release feature, generation 4 magazines have two notches on both sides of the magazine. Mechanically, the Glock Gen4 pistols are fitted with a dual recoil spring assembly to reduce perceived recoil and increase service life expectancy. The front portion of the polymer frame just under the slide is wider compared to the previous generation guns and internally enlarged to accommodate the dual recoil spring assembly.[17][18][19][20]

None of the differences between the two gens affected my decision much as I intended to make aftermarket mods anyway.

I wonder why they didn't carry over the scale type grip serrations on the slide-
They also have gen4 stamped next to the model number..

Kinda wierd - but I'm happy with it- I would have been just as happy with a gen 3.

Got GTUL?

http://www.mygtul.com/index.php

I think I'm going to pick up three or four of the small mag disassembly tools and three of the brushes. The price is not too bad.

Also, if you wait, CDNN has a 'free shipping' special three or four times a year. It's generally when you buy so much (generally more than $100) and then shipping is free.

I caught a buy four get the fifth one free sale last year. On top of that I got free shipping and several tactical folder knives (hey a free knife IS a free knife). The distance between Abilene (where CDNN is located) and Denver is 450 miles so that I get my orders within three days of placing and paying for my order.

I really LOVE CDNN's specials. So much so I'll probably stock up more Glock mags. You literally can NEVER have too many magazines for handguns YOU OWN.

And I LOVE my Gen 3 RTF G22's. I've found you either love or hate the RTF part.

I held a Gen 4 and the grip felt horrible compared to Gen 3.. it was too spiky on the palm.
